I love an evening spent at home with friends or family, getting cozy, watching a good movie or playing some fun board games! And what is the most important ingredient for such an evening to thrive? Obviously the crackers you serve! Well… The company and the wine might play a role as well, I admit that 😉
These pastry sticks are again a snack that is super quick to prepare. But the best thing is how easily you can make variations to this recipe. You may use fried bacon cubes, poppy seeds, sunflower seeds, different kinds of herbs, different kinds of cheese – there is no limit to your creativity!
1 pastry dough
2-4 slices of cheese of your choice
Salt, Pepper, Dried Basil
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Spread the dough on the countertop and cut it lengthwise in half. Then cut the dough into 1.5 cm stripes, orthogonal to the cut you did before. Cut the cheese into stripes that are smaller than the dough stripes and place one piece of cheese on each dough stripe. Take one piece of dough with cheese by the ends and twist them a couple of times around the cheese. Then place the cheese stick on a baking sheet with baking parchment. Continue until there is no more pastry dough left. They will not increase a lot in size, so you can place them rather closely together around 2 cm apart from each other. Sprinkle them with water and season everything with salt, pepper and dried basil.
Bake in the oven at 180°C until golden brown (5-10 min.).
